Hatchbox Wood Filament
HATCHBOX Wood PLA filament is a specialty 3D printing material designed to create beautiful prints with a natural wood-like appearance. Made with PLA blended with recycled wood fibers, this filament gives your projects a warm, organic finish while still offering the easy printability that PLA is known for.
This filament is a great choice for decorative prints, signs, architectural models, game pieces, display items, cosplay props, gifts, and projects where a traditional plastic look just won’t do. Finished prints can be sanded, stained, or polished to enhance the wood-like appearance and create a more custom, handcrafted look.
Because it is PLA-based, HATCHBOX Wood filament is easier to print than many advanced materials. It has low warping, does not typically require a heated bed, and works well on most standard FDM/FFF 3D printers.
Key Features
- PLA-based filament infused with recycled wood fibers
- Creates a natural wood-like finish
- Great for decorative, artistic, and display-quality prints
- Finished parts can be sanded, stained, or polished
- Easy to print compared to many specialty filaments
- Low warping and minimal heated-bed requirements
- Ideal for signs, architectural models, game-board pieces, décor, props, ornaments, gifts, and creative projects
- 1.75mm filament diameter
- 1kg spool
Recommended Print Settings
- Extruder Temperature: 175–220°C
- Bed Temperature: 0–60°C
- Nozzle: 0.4mm minimum; 0.6mm recommended for larger or longer prints
- Layer Height: 0.16–0.28mm depending on desired detail and finish
- Print Speed: 35–60mm/s as a starting range
Printing Tips
Wood-filled PLA can be slightly more abrasive and more prone to clogging than standard PLA due to the wood fibers in the material. For best results, use a clean nozzle and consider using a larger nozzle, especially for longer prints. A 0.6mm nozzle can help improve flow consistency and reduce the chance of clogs.
To enhance the wood-like effect, try adjusting print temperature. Slight temperature changes can subtly affect the shade and finish of the printed part. Finished prints can also be lightly sanded, stained, sealed, or polished for a more realistic wood appearance.
As with most PLA-based filaments, store the spool in a dry location and keep it sealed when not in use for best print quality.
